Ah, the Happy Homeowners! Meet the Hurleys.
When Terry and Joyce Hurley saw a Homeway Home for the first time, they knew they had to have one of their own.
That day is here. The Hurley’s new home is finished and now on-site in rural Lewistown. The final painting touches are being applied and the move-in is expected this month, Joyce said recently.
“We have nothing but good things to say about our experience with Homeway. We could not have asked for anybody better to guide us along the way than Bruce Leman and James Knapp (in the Goodfield Model Home Center). They found a floorplan that met our needs and it all has been wonderful,” Joyce said.
It took four months from start to finish and that includes a delay of nearly a month because wet weather turned the unfinished property where the building site is into what she described as “a muddy mess.”
But when the opportunity arrived, the workers were there on the site, “even on Christmas Eve,” Joyce added. “That they could get the house finished that quickly is great and frankly, it is what persuaded us to go with Homeway.”
The Hurleys already owned the land and knew they were interested in Homeway after visiting one of its homes about eight years ago. They knocked on the door of a family they knew had a Homeway Home and asked if they could see it. “They let us in and showed us around. They were happy with it. We knew then that’s what we wanted. It just took us longer than we thought it would,” Joyce said.
The Hurleys recently recommended Homeway Homes to another couple. “I hope they use them. I think they’re great,” she said.

Joel Hamm enjoys a good challenge. So when the sales team at Homeway Homes presents him with a customer’s floorplan that is not of the normal Homeway variety, he likes getting the chance to make it work.
It’s his job as a draftsman at Homeway Homes, working in the company’s Goodfield Model Home Center.
“As a draftsman I am part of the project from the original concept all the way to the Construction Facility floor, making sure every piece that goes into a home is there and that it fits,” Joel said. “I oversee the design concept to make sure it fits into our system and if it doesn’t, it’s my job to do what is needed to make it work for our customer. So, there can be a design element to the job and that’s the kind of challenge I enjoy.”
Joel has been with Homeway Homes for going on 8 years, since graduating from Quincy Vatterott College. “I enjoy it here. We have good people and it is fun to work with them and with the customers, helping them find their next home.”
The experts say 2016 is going to be a good year for the real estate market in Illinois. That’s the kind of news we like to hear!
Oh sure, they bring up the factors that could affect the Illinois market, such as the lingering state budget situation and a slightly slowed economy. But overall, “the market is expected to experience positive gains,” according to the Illinois Association of Realtors and the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory at the University of Illinois.
