Summer is here! Here is what you should be planting in your garden‍Sure, many vegetables and flowers are planted in spring, but there are other varieties that thrive when planted at the start of summer and can give your garden a second life this summer. Check out what you should be planting right now.

Annual wildflowers can be planted in early summer giving you a second round of blooming flowers as other plants begin to fade. Marigolds, cosmos, zinnias, and sunflowers are perfect examples – they usually burn out by late summer, but if planted now will last well past Labor Day.

While it’s too late to plant tomatoes and eggplants from seed, you can still plant basil, carrots, beets, lettuce, and more for a second harvest in the vegetable garden. In fact, many lettuce varieties can be sown throughout the season for multiple harvests.
